Just a quick note:
Ma is again in good spirits but still very dozey. Lots of Doctors, including the surgeon, came to see her today and are all happy with her progress.
Jacquetta caused quite the excitement in the ward today when she lit the nice scented candle in Ma's room. The nurse had a fit and hasn't been able to stop talking about it all day - 'the candle and the oxygen - well, it's a surprise that the Royal Free is still here'. We're rather in love with the main day nurse - Arlene. She's Irish and nice.
If you'd like to visit Ma then please give me a call. She's terribly worried that she'll have disappointing conversation. She sometimes quite likes chit chat around her but mostly has her eyes shut and sometimes drifts in and out of sleep.
Again, she wanted to pass on thanks for all the messages of support.

Thanks for devising this clever way for Tessa's loyal fans to keep up with her progress... (this is my fourth attempt at a post!) Please tell Brigadeer Cod that John is in the hospital in Oxford with his new knee. The charming nurse from Lesotho complains that John is lazy and still in his pj's five days later.
Praise be to Allah that Jacquetta's candle didn't carry Madame away and the Royal Free with her.
I'm praying to the East that the hospital is quick and pleasant as possible.

Great to hear the news that all has gone according to plan. very good reports Charlotte. Daniel is in France at the moment (shooting wild boar if you don't mind) but I will tell him that Tessa's first wish on emerging from op was to hear the Archers. I know that's a bit an exaggeration but he will be SO impressed.
